Profile history

I started my career as a motor mechanic working in a local garage. I moved to Range Rover factory as a mechanic, then as a test driver and drove all kinds of VIPs including Prince Philip.

After deciding to change direction slightly I took a driver training course for HGVs and passed class 1 (Articulated Lorries). Then I got a job as a Heavy Goods Vehicle driver and after a couple of years became a manager and changed direction again.

I'd always been good at driving! My licences include HGV class 1, Car and Motorcycle so I went into the driver training industry. I started at Birmingham Instructor College in April 1999 and joined BSM January 2000. In July 2000 I passed the final exam to become an ADI grade 5.

You're biggest risk of having a bad accident is within the first two years of you passing your driving test. SO...

  • When you get your confidence, drive like you own the car, not the road!

  • Take motorway tuition and seriously think about advanced driver training. Research shows that it makes better drivers.
